Practical Information

Conference venue
The Conference will be held at the Blindern Campus at the University of Oslo. The address is Moltke Moes vei 39. To get her by public transportation you may take the Metro number 3 in direction Sognsvann, number 4 in direction Ringen or number 5 in direction Storo to the station named Blindern. When you get of the Metro you will have the campus area on your right hand side. Walk straight forward up the small hill/slope on the right hand side of the station and you will get to a big black building which is the campus library. This is the Georg Sverdrup’s building (Georg Sverdups hus in Norwegian) where the conference is held. Both keynote lectures and parallel sessions will take place in this building.

Lunch will be served on the first floor of the building called Fredrikke at Blindern Campus. 

Transportation from the airport:
To get from Oslo airport to the centre of Oslo city you may take the Oslo Airport Express Train (Flytoget). It leaves from inside the Oslo Airport terminal building 70 meters to the right after leaving the custom area in the arrival hall. The train takes you downtown Oslo Central Station (Oslo S) in 19 minutes and leaves every 10 minutes.

The price for a single ticket is 170 NOK and all major credit cards are accepted. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket vending machines or at the ticket desks at the airport. Your can also travel with an e-ticket. Swipe your card trough a card reader in the Arrival hall before the stairway to the platform and choose your destination (Oslo S). The correct price will be charged to your card. This is all you need to do. You do not need to swipe your card at your arrival.

You may also take the Airport Express Coach (SAS Flybussen in Norwegian) from Oslo Airport to the centre of Oslo. The price for a single trip is 140 NOK and 240 NOK for a return ticket.

Transportation to the conference venue from the centre of Oslo city:

You may also take tram number 17 and number 18 in direction Rikshospitalet from Oslo centre to the station Universitetet Blindern. When you get of the tram the Campus area is on your left hand side. Walk straight forward across the campus until you get a large black building, the Georg Sverdrup’s building, where the conference is held.

Tickets for the metro/tram/bus may be bought at ticket machines at all metro stations and some bus/tram stations or from any kiosk that sells Ruter public transport tickets. You may also buy your ticket onboard the bus or tram, but this is more expensive. Single ticket pre-paid costs 27 NOK and a single ticket purchased onboard costs 40 NOK. Tickets bought onboard have to be validated. A single ticket is valid for one hour on any means of public transport within Oslo city limits. For more information visit Trafikanten.

Conference dinner
on the evening of May 19th, a conference dinner will be held at Gamle Logen in Oslo city. The address is Grev Wedels Plass 2 and it is located near the Akershus fortress. Google maps will give you a good description of how to get from the Parliament (Stortinget) located on the main street Karl Johan to Gamle Logen

Storage
For those arriving directly to the conference site we will have a room available on the second floor of the Georg Sverdrup’s building where you may store you luggage.

 

Conference fee:
The Visions Conference is structured into two parts:
The first part takes place on May 18 and is devoted to teacher education. The second part takes place on May 19-20 and focuses on different topics within language learning and science/math education (for more information see Home and Program). The Conference fee is adjusted according to which part(s) you wish to attend:

Attendance part 1, May 18th: NOK 1000
Attendance part 2, May 19th-20th: NOK 1600
Attendance part 1 and part 2, May 18th -20th: NOK 2000

Partner school discount
We offer a discount for participants from partner schools of the Department of Teacher Education and School Research.

Student discount
We have 50 free seats for students attending one of the following programmes at the Univeristy of Oslo: The Teacher Training Programme (PPU), the Master Level Teacher Education Programme (Lektorprogramme), Teach First or the Master Programme in Reading and Writing in School (Master i lesing og skriving i skolen). These seats are distributed according to the first come , first served principle.

Hotels
Participant are required to book their own hotels.
However, the University of Oslo has agreements with two hotel chains in Oslo: Thon Hotels and Rica Hotels. Participants at the Visions Conference may use these agreements when booking hotel rooms. Submit the reference code UHA and refer to the University of Oslo when booking your room and you will get a discount according to the Universitys’ agreement. When booking online, submit the reference code TH90696 for Thon Hotels or UH6297 for Rica Hotels.
