Job opportunity: Secretary General for the Magna Charta Observatory

MagnaChartaThe Magna Charta Observatory is looking for a new Secretary General with good knowledge on universities and their international networks.

Description of the organisation: “The Magna Charta Universitatum was launched in 1988 on the occasion of the 900th anniversary of the University of Bologna. It is a statement of the fundamental principles and values of universities and was signed by some 400 representatives of universities attending the celebration. In 2000 the University of Bologna and the Association of European Universities set up an Observatory to promote the principles of the Magna Charta and to monitor its observance. During the last decade the number of signatories continued to grow to about 800 universities today. Worldwide the relevance of the cause of academic independence and integrity is steadily increasing.

The tasks of the Secretary General are to:

  • create and develop a web of co-operations and a program of joint events with partner organizations worldwide
  • set up and operate the specific expert monitoring function of the observatory.
